CUFC vs LINCOLN (H) PRE-MATCH STATS: A STAT OF TWO CITIES

By Steven Doggett - STATMAN for YABA

The time is upon us again where we look through that stats current and past of two teams, one of which is
soaring the other is slumping.

After 3 consecutive away games Cambridge will feel relieved that they finally have a home tie this Friday
evening but that feeling of ease could be snapped away in a heartbeat when the Imps arrive at the Abbey.

Cambridge United’s home form has saved them this season as they have managed to pick up 27 points out
of a possible 42 adding to the measly 11 that has been picked up away from home. The visitors to the
Abbey have picked up 19 away points all season and would be sitting 10th in the table if the league was
made up by away games only where United would be sitting 19th.

Lincoln are thriving back in the football league after their 5 year leave. Their return back to the football
league sees them 9th in the table. They sit 2 points away from a playoff spot and only 5 points away from
the top 3 which is extremely impressive and could clinch back to back promotions.

Cambridge could struggle to find a way past Lincoln because it sees the lowest scorers of the league come
up against the 3rd best defence with only Coventry and leaders Luton conceding less. To add to this
worrying statistic Cambridge has the 14th best defence in the league shifting 7 goals in the last two games
whereas Lincoln have bagged 43 goals so far this campaign, putting them in the top 7 goal scorers of the
league

Cambridge’s baron run has seen them pick up 3 wins in the last 15 games andhas the 2nd worst points tally
over the last 5 games with only Grimsby earning less. Lincoln however are thriving and have only managed to lose 1 in their last 5 games which was a 4-2 loss against league leaders Luton.

The past head to head matches between these two sides will be music to the ears of Cambridge fans because since 2011 Lincoln has only managed 1 win against the U’s, scraped 2 draws and fell to the Yellow and Black army 4 times.

Cambridge have gained 71% of their points tally this season at home and with floods of the Amber Army behind them Lincoln could have their work cut out for them come kick-off.
