PRE-MATCH STATS: CUFC vs NOTTS COUNTY (H)

By Steven Doggett - STATMAN for YABA

League record 2017/18 comparison:

And here we go! United will take on County… again. I say again because since
1999 Cambridge and County have played 13 league games against each
other over two divisions, being league 1 and league 2. During these 13 games
Cambridge have won the lion share of matches accumulating 6 wins out of a
possible 13 while County have managed just 3 with 4 ending in draws. Out of
the 13 games played in the league 6 have been played on United’s home
ground with United taking 2 wins 3 draws and a single defeat.

Results against the promotion pushers has been very positive in the last 3 years
dating back to 2015 where United have managed to win 4 of their last 5 against
County and suffering 1 draw. That said draw came just before Christmas after
gaining a 3-0 lead under Shaun Derry.

Now a little digging into the visitor's recent history of games and from a
Cambridge perspective it is looking hopeful because the currently 5th placed
team in the league is going through what could be called a rough few games
for any side pushing promotion. Out of County's last 7 league games they have
only managed to grab 2 wins and have also lost to bottom place Barnet in recent
weeks.

Cambridge have found shooting form in the last few games managing to score 6
in the last 2 which should send shivers down Notts county fans spine because
in their last 5 games they have conceded a whopping 11 goals in all
competitions.

Cambridge are looking up now after back to back league wins over the past
week with good results against both Grimsby and Chesterfield as well as
conceding just the 1 goal in the last 3 games BUT… Yes but all in capitals
because a statistic that United fans will not like is that United have not managed
to win 3 consecutive league games since November/ December 2016. That is
exactly 100 games!

United have taken 7 out of a possible 15 points in their last 5 games which does
look like a standard mid table side, but what could get some United fans excited
is that since Shaun Derry has departed United are 2 from 2 and have scored as
many goals in the last 2 matches than the previous 7 before that!

Can the Mighty Cambridge United disrupt the Wobbly Notts promotion push and
make it 3 wins from 3? Or has Dunne met his match against a Notts County
side looking to make it undefeated in 3?
