On a cold wintery day the Abbey is the place to be where Cambridge face the bulldozer force of
Luton in 1 of the 2 games in league 2 that has survived the Arctic weather over the past week!

Luton have been anything but cold in this campaign this season scoring a whopping 74 goals
in the league 7 of them coming against United back in November. Luton are dominating the
league this season, 3 points clear of second place and 8 points clear of the playoffs. They are
surely the bookies favourite to go up automatically with their striking force of Collins and Hylton
two strikers in tip top form scoring 15 each so far this season with still 12 games left to play.
And by all accounts Luton could be the indestructible team that surpasses 100 points this
season.

But all hope is not lost because Luton has indeed slipped up against the lower teams in the
league this season, more than once… They lost against 2 sides that are battling to stay in the
league this season. They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chesterfield and got embarrassed by Port
Vale losing 4-0 so even though Luton have only lost 4 games this season they have lost half of
those games to sides that could be playing in the national league this time next season.

United have learnt what defeat is under caretaker manager Dunne last week as Untied couldn’t
find a way through the Accrington defence. But they did not have to play against just Accrington,
as you could see from the match highlights but even though it was bitterly disappointing for the
team and fans they players have found themselves again and are playing the football that they
are capable of, making runs, plays and seeing a new lease on life with passion, drive and determination.

Even though United are finding their feet again it looks like another season stuck in League 2
sitting 9 points off of the last playoff spot with 7 teams between them and 7th place it will take
a winter miracle to clamber into the playoffs.

Head 2 Head Stats

The U’s and Luton have played each other 15 times across the National league and League
2 since 2009 and from a Cambridge point of view lets just say there is always next game
because United have only managed to win 1 game in the league against the Table toppers
and that came all the way back in 2011 in the national league with a 1-0 win while 6 of the
games have finished in stalemates against the two sides Luton have won the majority of the
games with 8 wins in the league. In the last 20 matches league and cup united have only
managed to win 2 home games against Luton them coming in a 2-1 win in 2015 in the FA
cup and a 3-1 win in 2009 in the FA trophy. And another worrying fact for United is that in the
past 15 league matches United have managed to score only 10 goals whereas Luton have nearly averaged 2 goals per game scoring 28.

Can United get back to winning ways or will the U’s get stuck in the snow?
