Cambridge are on the road after their disappointing match against Swindon and are looking to bounce back against another side who have the opportunity to finish the season in those all important play off places.

Carlisle are the opposition today and it is going to be no easy feat knocking this rampaging club off of its track. Carlisle are currently 0 losses in 6 with only 2 draws in that time. Carlisle currently sit 5 points away from the playoff places with 56 points and 10th in the table but unfortunately for the Cumbrians the 4 teams that sit above them in the table all have games in hand which means that 5 point lead could stretch to 8 depending on the results of the games in hand.

With 9 games left to play for The Blues they have racked up a pretty decent score tally of 55 but a worry for them is that they have also conceded a high number of goals at 48 giving them a +7 Goal Difference.

United have started to show signs of wobbling in recent matches with a performance to forget about  against Swindon. United now have to go to Carlisle under a little bit of pressure from restless fans to pull out a result after their cruel run of fixtures which entailed playing all top 3 sides with 2 different 1st placed teams. United shouldn't worry though because in theory this match against the Cumbrians shouldn't be as demanding as the last several matches. One thing to bare in mind if you are a Cambridge fan though is that on the away league table United sit 19th after the dreadful away season and 5 points off rock bottom.

The full table is a lot prettier than a few months ago with united sitting in dead middle and realistically look to finish anywhere between 10th- 15th place which gives us good grounds to push on for those playoff places come next season.

HEAD 2 HEAD

The U's have played the Cumbrians a respectable 7 times in the last 4 years with 4 of those games ending in Cambridge wins including a 5-0 thrashing back in 2014 with Simpson scoring two and being subbed for Stockely who also came on to score 2. 2 of the matches have ended in draws. The most exciting was a 4-4 draw back in 2015 with no other than Ibhere scoring a hatrick to claim a point for Carlisle that day. The only time that Carlisle has beaten united was earlier this season under... You guessed it. Shaun Derry with a 2-1 defeat. Before that you need to look prior to 1998.

The Bobble hat Army is on the road again looking for the 3 points with Dunne leading the charge. Will the Yellow and black army rise to the occasion or run away with their tail between their legs? Only time will tell.
