Wicked Wycombe V Cruising Cambridge Pre Match stats

By Steven Doggett - STATMAN for YABA

Ei ei ei oh off to Wycombe, Cambridge go… Yep that’s right Cambridge are on
the road again to try and strengthen up their poor away form that has stuck
with the U’s all season with Dunne looking to put the Accrington result behind
them and will now push for his 2nd away win and the clubs 4th away win of the
season. And many fans could speculate that if we start like we finished against
Luton Wycombe could be in for a long day.

The U’s fans are in good spirits under Dunne and have high hopes for today’s
match. A @YABAcufc poll showed that 38% of the people that voted have
tipped Cambridge to take all 3 points this afternoon with only 28% of people
tipping a Wycombe win and 31% of fans predicting a draw, with one or two
poor souls predicting a game postponement after the dismal weather that has
engulfed the UK over the last 2 weeks with 3% of the final vote.

Wycombe have suffered a slip in their last 2 games and have lost to both
Coventry and to struggling Morcombe which completed league doubles for
both respected clubs against Wycombe taking a maximum 12 points off The
Chairboys. They have also conceded 5 goals in that time frame while only
being able to put in 2 in the net themselves, but Wycombe fans should not
be too worried about that stat because they have only lost 2 of their last 10
games and with only 1 draw in that time frame that is definitely quite
impressive! Wycombe have fairly good form at home this season and are
sitting 8th in the home league table and with that boast the 2nd best offensive
record this season with 67 goals in the league. But it is not all plain sailing for
The Chairboys as they do have the 10th worst defence of the season
conceding 1.46 goals per game a fraction over the leagues average as well
as they are coming against a Cambridge side that are hungry for points, very
hungry.

Cambridge have been revitalised under Dunne with the players looking fresh
and hungry, and the fans back in song, it could be a strong end to the season
from a U’s perspective, the U’s have played very strongly in their last 5 games
winning 3 of them in some fashion, slipping up against an Accrington side who
had a helping hand in the back of United defender Taft, and a monumental
point against league leaders Luton with for large parts of the match Cambridge
playing so well you would not be able to tell which team was in 1st and 14th
place.
Cambridge have managed to also get plenty more shots on target since
Dunne has taken over. To be exact Cambridge keep 46% of their shots on
target while under Derry taking the same amount of goals into consideration
got 34% of their shots on target. But now Cambridge are looking to boost
some stats that’ll look good in any playoff chasing teams CV before the season
ends to build for the season after but has only managed to beat 1 team that
currently sit in the playoff places all season.

Head to Head stats

And this is where it all starts to look a little bleak from a Cambridge point of
view... Since the 2004/05 season Cambridge have only been able to win 2 of
their 9 games that they have played against The Chairboys with no draws and
7 wins for Wycombe. In fact you would have to go back all the way to 1994 to
see the last match that the two clubs drew with goals from Steve Butler and
Carlo Corazzin to claim the point on that Friday night in mid December.
Cambridge though have managed to score only 6 in the pairs last 9 meetings
while Wycombe have managed to bag a total of 12 in the same time frame.

The Bobble hat Army is on the march and are looking to Wack Wycombe and
send them home with a 3rd defeat in 3. Up The U’s.
